Sailing Instruction
Come and learn the art of sailing aboard our rugged offshore cruiser, “Privateer”! “Privateer” is a 36′ Cape George Cutter. We also proudly offer “house calls” aboard your very own vessel.
Imagine the confidence you will gain after just a few hours behind the tiller. As the wind pipes up you decide to heave-to and reef your sails, then speed off across the bay at 8.5 knots. Our patient and friendly instructors tailor each sail to suit your individual needs, providing a safe and positive environment in which to learn the art of sailing.
The following are just a few examples of the skills our students will gain during a typical lesson:
- Docking in windy weather, proper sail trim, anchoring, night-time navigation, reefing, chart plotting, man overboard, heaving-to, heavy weather tactics, making use of tides & currents, and much, much more…
Sailing Lessons on S/V “Privateer”
“Privateer” is the flagship of the Pacific NW Expeditions fleet. Experience the thrill of plying the waters of the Inside Passage aboard this solid blue-water cruiser! She is ready for anything, from your next day-sailing expedition to long-term coastal voyaging. Private instruction for groups up to 6 is available at $385 per day. For instruction on a coastal voyage, consider joining an expedition.

One of the best ways to gain the confidence and experience you need is to learn sailing on your own sailboat!
